Welcome to our blogspot. Have a look at what our students have been discussing in our workshops this term and talk to them about it at home.
One focus this term is whakapapa. We are encouraging the students to find out about who their whakapapa, ancestors and family are, where they come from and people who have influenced them.
We are also talking about how they can use their talent to help others. You might like to encourage them to speak out about an issue that you are passionate about or give them ideas about ways they can use their gifts to help others at school or in the community. We look forward to hearing from you all.

Whaea Steph's visit

Last week Whaea Steph spoke with our group.  She described what whakapapa means to her and described how different qualities and abilities are passed down through generations.

She described how people recognised her abilities and encouraged her to become a leader.

She also described some of the qualities a good leader has.

Whaea Steph also talked about using her skills to help others.

WHAKAPAPA

In our second workshop we discussed what whakapapa is and why understanding where we come from is important in helping us understand who we are.  We have also been talking about how people from our families can influence us and help us develop our gifts.
